Ways to move forward in resolving Western Sahara conflict evoked - APS : Algérie Presse Service
CHAHID EL HAFEDH- Special Representative of UN Secretary General for Western Sahara Wolfgang Weisbrod-Weber, said he listened to the Sahrawis and the Polisario Front leaders on the current situation and ways to move forward in resolving Western Sahara conflict, reported Sunday News Agency Sahrawi (SPS).
The UN representative said Saturday after meeting with the Saharawi president, Mohamed Abdelaziz, after his first visit to the Saharawi refugee camps, have been received warmly by the Sahrawi citizens and direction with which he "discussed the current situation and ways to move forward in resolving the conflict," said SPS.
The Polisario Front, meanwhile, reaffirmed the "full readiness" of the Saharawi authorities to cooperate with the new special representative of UN Secretary General for Western Sahara to facilitate its mission in the region.
The Saharawi president, in this context, stressed the need to accelerate the work of the UN Mission for the referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to revive the UN’s efforts in favor of decolonization in Western Sahara which remains blocked because of Morocco refusal to cooperate with Christopher Ross, the personal envoy of UN SG.
