Dili, Spt 27, 2012 (SPS) - The Deputy Foreign Minister of East Timor Mr. Constancio da Conceicao Pinto, has confirmed his country’s firm support the Saharawi cause, during a meeting with Saharawi Ambassador Badi Salama at the headquarters of Timorese Foreign Ministry
The meeting was an opportunity for the Saharawi Ambassador to inform his interlocutor about the latest developments of our national cause, especially those relating to serious human rights violations perpetrated by the Moroccan authorities of occupation against the defenseless citizens in occupied Western Sahara, saisd statement of the Saharawi Embassy in Dili
For his part, Mr. Pinto reiterated his country's support to the just struggle of the Saharawi people, stating that "East Timor's position is set by policy considerations, our colonial past and our common history in the struggle against Spanish colonialism and Portuguese”.
The Deputy Minister of Timor expressed hope “that Morocco could follow the example of Indonesia in the framework of respecting the international legitimacy and accept a referendum on self-determination, and open a new page of cooperation between the two peoples and the two neighboring countries" .
