Algeria reacts to the opening of an Ivorian consulate in Western Sahara | Porunsaharalibre | @x1saharalibre

alg24.net.- Algeria on Tuesday described the opening by the government of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire of diplomatic representation in the occupied Sahrawi city of Laayoune as “a flagrant transgression of international law” and “a violation of commitments arising from the Constitutive Act of the African Union (AU) ”, according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Algeria has taken note of the opening by the government of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire of a diplomatic representation in the city of Laayoune in Western Sahara, “it said in the press release.”

This kind of act by a founding member of the AU is a violation of the commitments resulting from the constituting act of the AU and a flagrant transgression of international law and of the resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly of the UN concerning the question of decolonization of Western Sahara ”, underlines the text.

“Be that as it may, the decision to open diplomatic representations by certain African countries, founders of the AU, is just another episode in a long series of maneuvers and a policy of flight ahead, which cannot last in the face of the force of international law and legality but also the strong attachment of the Saharawi people to their natural and legitimate right to self-determination, “concluded the same source.
