[SPS]Brussels -European Parliament voiced, in a motion submitted Saturday to the 22nd session of the Human Rights Council, concern over the continued violatins of human rights in Western Sahara.

BRUSSELS (Belgium) – The European Parliament expressed Saturday in Brussels in a resolution to the 22nd session of the UN Human Rights Council, its concern about the continued violations of human rights in Western Sahara.
"The European Parliament expressed its concerns in light of ongoing violations of human rights in Western Sahara, and called for the protection of fundamental rights of Western Sahara people, including freedom of association, freedom of expression and the right to protest," read this resolution.
"The European Parliament which calls for release of all Saharawi political prisoners, welcomes the appointment of a special envoy for the Sahel and stresses the need for international monitoring of human rights situation in Western Sahara," the same resolution said.
The parliament reiterated its support for "a just and lasting settlement of the conflict based on the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the United Nations."
Sahrawi minister delegate for Europe Mohamed Sidati affirmed that the text "confirms previous decisions of the European Parliament, including its report of 13 December 2012 ", and" reaffirms the positions of the great European institution on the Saharawi question and its commitment to compliance and enforcement of the international law in Western Sahara, namely the rejection of Morocco policy of occupation and repression. "
