URGENT: SAHARAWI PRISONERS NEED CIVIL OBSERVERS

The group of Saharawi civil citizens on trial since February 8 in Rabat had to appear illegally before a Moroccan military tribunal, is urgently demanding civil and international observers and the media to attend the court sessions in Rabat, Morocco.

FLASHBACK:

Gdeim Izik was a camp city set up some 15 kilometres from the occupied city of El Aaiún or Laayoune (capital of Western Sahara) and was the most numerous peaceful demonstration recorded in Saharawi history. More than 20,000 citizens had left their homes to construct the tent city right in the desert. They sent a message to the world they would no longer dare living under Moroccan occupation on their own Western Sahara land.

That camp was violently dismantled on November 8, 2010 by Moroccan police and soldiers, watched by the United Nations and the international community. And the camp organizers, a group of Saharawi civil citizens still cannot enjoy liberty and keep suffering from torture.
